The rock

 °THE ROCK

Dwayne Douglas Johnson, born on May 2, 1972, is an esteemed American actor and retired professional wrestler. Known by his ring name "the Rock," he is widely recognized as one of the most exceptional professional wrestlers in history. During the Attitude Era, a period of significant growth in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Johnson played a pivotal role in the development and triumph of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). After dedicating eight years to wrestling for the WWF, he ventured into the world of acting. Johnson's movies have achieved remarkable success, accumulating a staggering $3.5 billion in North America and an astounding $10.5 billion worldwide. This extraordinary accomplishment has solidified his position as one of the highest-grossing and highest-paid actors globally. Additionally, Johnson holds the title of co-owner in the United Football League, a professional American football league.

° After being awarded an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Miami, he became a member of the 1991 national championship team, although he primarily served as a backup player. Despite his dreams of playing professional football, he went undrafted in the 1995 NFL draft and briefly signed with the Calgary Stampeders before being released during his first season. In 1996, his father Rocky assisted him in securing a contract with the WWF. Utilizing a charismatic trash talker persona, Johnson quickly gained worldwide recognition. He departed from the WWE in 2004 but made a comeback in 2011 as a part-time performer until 2013, making sporadic appearances until his retirement in 2019. With an impressive record of 10 World Championships, including being the first of African-American descent, he also holds the titles of two-time Intercontinental Champion, five-time Tag Team Champion, 2000 Royal Rumble winner, and WWE's sixth Triple Crown Champion. Johnson headlined the highest-selling professional wrestling pay-per-view (WrestleMania XXVIII) and was featured in some of the most-watched episodes of WWE's flagship television series (Raw and SmackDown).

Johnson's acting career began with his role in The Mummy Returns (2001). The following year, he landed his first leading role in the action-fantasy film The Scorpion King. Since then, he has starred in family-oriented films such as The Game Plan (2007), Race to Witch Mountain (2009), Tooth Fairy (2010), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), and Jungle Cruise (2021). Additionally, he has showcased his talent in action films like Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Hercules (2014), Skyscraper (2018), San Andreas (2015), and Rampage (2018). He has also made appearances in action-comedy films including Get Smart (2008), Central Intelligence (2016), Baywatch (2017), and Red Notice (2021). His portrayal of Luke Hobbs in the Fast & Furious films, starting with Fast Five (2011), significantly contributed to the franchise's immense box office success. Furthermore, he has joined the DC Extended Universe, taking on the title role in Black Adam (2022). He is also recognized for lending his voice to the character Maui in Disney's animated film.

* Childhood and upbringing.

.Johnson was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. His parents are Management "Ata" Fitisemanu (née Maivia) and former professional wrestler Rocky Johnson. During his childhood, he briefly lived in Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand, with his mother's family. There, he played rugby and attended Richmond Road Primary School before returning to the United States.

His father, Rocky Johnson, was a Black Nova Scotian with a small amount of Irish ancestry, while his mother is Samoan. In 1983, his father and Tony Atlas became the first black tag team champions in WWE history. Johnson's mother, who is the adopted daughter of Peter Maivia, was also a professional wrestler. His maternal grandmother, Lia, took over Polynesian Pacific Pro Wrestling after her husband's death in 1982 and managed it until 1988. Through his maternal grandfather Maivia, Johnson is a non-blood relative of the Anai wrestling family. In 2008, he inducted his father and grandfather into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Johnson attended various schools during his education. He started at Montclair Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina, before moving to Hamden, Connecticut, where he attended Shepherd Glen Elementary School and then Hamden Middle School. Later, he attended President William McKinley High School in Honolulu, Glencliff High School and McGavock High School in Nashville, and finally Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1990.

During his time at Freedom High School, Johnson faced challenges and got involved in conflicts and petty crimes. He was arrested multiple times for fighting, theft, and check fraud, and even faced a two-week suspension for fighting. The local newspaper described him as a "troubled teenager with a history of run-ins with police." However, his football coach, Jody Cwik, recognized his athletic potential and recruited him to join the football team as a defensive tackle. This experience marked the beginning of a personal transformation for Johnson.

*Football career

. Johnson, who had previously played defensive tackle in high school, continued his football career at the University of Miami. He was a valuable member of the Miami Hurricanes 1991 team, which achieved the remarkable feat of winning the national championship that year. Despite spending four years at the university, Johnson faced tough competition from exceptional players like Warren Sapp, who would go on to become an NFL star and be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Consequently, Johnson mostly played in backup roles during his time at Miami, appearing in a total of 39 games. Despite this, he managed to make an impact, recording 4.5 sacks and 77 tackles.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Johnson excelled academically. In 1995, he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of General Studies, having pursued a dual major in criminology and physiology. Johnson's influence extended beyond the football field and classroom, as he actively engaged with the Miami-area community. He frequently delivered inspiring speeches, sharing his personal struggles and emphasizing the importance of education while discouraging drug use among students.

After completing his studies, Johnson joined the Canadian Football League (CFL) by signing with the Calgary Stampeders. In Calgary, he transitioned from playing as a defensive tackle to a linebacker. Initially, he was placed on the practice roster, but unfortunately, he was released from the team after just two months into the 1995 season.

*Professional wrestling career

° He is a ten-time World Champion, including the first African-American, as well as a two-time Intercontinental Champion, a five-time Tag Team Champion, the 2000 Royal Rumble Champion, and WWE's sixth Triple Crown Champion.
