ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Sports and Youth Services Department in Odisha is led by the esteemed Minister of Sports and Youth Services. The primary goal of the department is to encourage different sports and athletes within the state, as well as facilitate youth service initiatives. Odisha has recently initiated sports infrastructure projects valued at Rs 660 crore.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled sports infrastructure projects valued at Rs 660 crore on Friday, which includes 48 multi-purpose indoor stadiums.
Additionally, Patnaik initiated the groundwork for 11 sports projects.
"We are committed to offering top-notch facilities to our budding athletes. I am optimistic that the projects inaugurated today will significantly boost sports development in the region," he expressed.
Among the notable projects are 12 hockey training centers, the Cuttack Table Tennis Academy, and the Rourkela Gymnastics Academy, as per an official statement.
The multi-purpose indoor stadiums will be equipped with amenities for various sports such as badminton, table tennis, yoga, chess, and weightlifting, the official mentioned.
The 12 hockey training centers will provide professional coaching services, with Odisha now having a total of 23 such centers.
